1: Performers: Great Guitars – Guy Strazz & Mark Johns (replaces Wolf Mail and Milena Barrett who have cancelled due to health reasons) Programme: Multi awarded guitarists/composers Guy Strazz & Mark Johns perform a program of great tunes from past and present, including their original works, such as the Jazz APRA Awarded Mandela, Afro Bouban, and Romantica. The duo will also offer their own rendition of Chick Corea’s Armando’s Rumba and Spain as well as pieces by Tom Jobim, Harold Harlen, Consuelo Velázquez, and Mark Johns’ engaging ukulele rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. 2: Performers: Lawergren & Lowe. Operatic Magic! Georgia Lowe (harp), Susannah Lawergren (soprano) Programme: The sublime duo of soprano Susannah Lawergren and harpist Georgia Lowe return to the Glebe Music Festival with a concert full of operatic magic! Exquisite harp arrangements by Georgia complement Susannah's soaring crystal-clear soprano in arias by Bellini, Puccini, Grieg, Charpentier and Strauss as well as beloved Australian and American composers. 3: Performers: Home and Hearth, Thoroughbass directed by Diana Weston (piano) with Danielle Grant (soprano) and Tara Hashambhoy (violin) Programme: ‘Home and Hearth’. Program includes some less well-known lieder by Franz Schubert, Ignace Pleyel’s Sonata for pianoforte and violin, Joseph Haydn’s 12 variations for piano forte and some popular songs of the early 19th century found in Sydney Living Museum's library. 5: Performers: Sydney Baroque Players historic instruments: Fiona McMillan (baroque oboe), Ruth Crosby (baroque flute), Phillip Murray (baroque flute), Joanna Butler (harpsichord) Programme: Le Chambre du Roi was the focal point of the palace of Versailles, and of the King’s absolute authority. From the sumptuous court of King Louis XIV, resplendent with mandatory entertainment for the nobility, came much exquisite music, both grand, and intimate. He was an employer of many musicians, so under him, and for him, French baroque music flourished. This concert will explore some intimate chambre compositions written by some of these composers and their successors, including Lully, Hotteterre, Blavet and Philidor.
