Gian Marco Ciampa was born in Rome in 1990. After studying with high-calibre teachers such as Bruno Battisti d’Amario, Fabrizio Verile, Fernando Lepri and Celestino Dionisi, he graduated with top marks, distinction  and honor mention with M° Arturo Tallini from “Santa Cecilia” Conservatoire in Rome.

Since he was a child he has taken part in and won several music competitions both in Italy and abroad  ("Omis International Guitar Competition"[Croazia], International Competition "Alirio Diaz", International Competition “Premio Accademia” International Competition “Premio Accademia”, International Competition “Ferdinando Carulli”, International Competition “Giulio Rospigliosi”, International Competition “Anemos”), receiving in recent years also prestigious awards: among others, the first prize at the European Classical Guitar Competition "Enrico Mercatali" (Gorizia, Italy) in 2013 and at the International Competition “Niccolò Paganini” (Parma, Italy) in 2012.

In May 2015 he left for China with #CiampaBeijingTour that saw him perform with great success in concerts and Masterclasses at the "Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing," the prestigious "Academy of Opera" of Peking University and the beautiful Auditorium of Italian Cultural Institute of the Italian Embassy.

During the summer of 2014 he won a scholarship to attend the prestigious "New York Mannes College" and is engaged in a series of concerts in the USA that led him to perform for the famous New York Classical Guitar Society at the Manhattan Theatre. In the same year the Scientific Committee of the International Competition "Michele Pittaluga" in Alessandria awarded him the prestigious "Golden Guitar" as a young talent.

Since he was very young Gian Marco has played concerts at important venues and festivals all over Italy and abroad: in addition to the Manhattan Theatre of New York, also at the Omis International Guitar Festival, at the “Sala Sinopoli” of the Auditorium Parco della Musica and the Sala Accademica of the “Santa Cecilia” Conservatoire in Rome, at the San Giacomo Festival (Bologna), a Casa della Musica” (Parma), at the Chitarrissima Guitar Festival(Torino), at the Teatro Manzoni (Pistoia), and at the Accademia Chigiana (Siena).

Several important Italian newspapers and magazines (La Repubblica, La Nazione, Il Tempo, Il Corriere Della Sera, Dotguitar, Le Cool etc.) have featured articles and interviews about Gian Marco.

In 2006 he was chosen – out of thousands of applicants – as one of two young guitarists who were invited to perform live on the Italian TV show “Domenica In - Ieri, oggi e domani” (Rai 1), hosted by the famous Italian TV presenter Pippo Baudo under the musical direction of Maestro Pippo Caruso.

In 2011 he was selected to take part in the guitar course held by Maestro Oscar Ghiglia at the prestigious Accademia Chigiana in Siena, where he graduated with merit as well as receiving a scholarship as one of the best students.

His performance in front of the highest Italian political authorities at the Quirinale Palace in Rome on the International Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 January 2013) was broadcast live on Italian national television (Rai 3).

In 2013 he was the founder and creator of "SUPERNOVA", an ensemble of guitars consisting of 8 young Italian guitarists, winners of international competitions.

Over the past few years Gian Marco has also been teaching both classical and electric guitar in several music schools in Rome such as the Civica Scuola delle Arti, the Cantiere della Musica, the Accademia Romana di Musica, the International Music Institute.
