Sam Lucas
Biography
Sam showed an interest in music at a young age and joined the Young Conservatorium of Music in Hobart at 7 years old. He commenced piano lessons at 8 years of age and was introduced to the cello in 2007 through a school music program.
Sam enjoys entering local Eisteddfod’s and in 2011 won the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition, 18 years and under.
Sam was invited to perform as soloist in the Adelaide International Cello Festival and also had Master Classes with David Geringas and Li Wei Qin.
In March 2012 he performed the Saint Saëns Cello Concerto to much acclaim with the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra.
In September 2012 Sam performed with Bulgarian concert pianist Evgeny Genchev in Sofia and Plovdiv- Bulgaria. He has also performed with AlexeyYemtsov and Konstantin Shamray.
Sam achieved both his A.Mus A with distinction and an L.Mus A in 2012.
Sam studies cello with David Lale, Principal cellist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
