DORINE TOLLEY

Dorine Tolley studied piano and harpsichord with Marijke Smit Sibinga in the Netherlands. She played in various chamber ensembles and performed with the Dutch Youth Orchestra in the late 1960’s. While completing her master’s degree in English she did an early music course with David Munrow at Leicester University in 1972 and performed for Radio Leicester. She followed a course in music therapy with Dr. Annette Cramer using a German designed monochord and practiced as a music therapist in the Netherlands. In 2001 she came to live in Australia and played with Orchestra 143. In 2005 she accompanied Russian soprano Tatiana Samoylova at the Centre of Performing Arts in Mumbai and at the Pune Music Society. She has also been interested in the piano music of Gurdjieff/de Hartmann and today teaches and accompanies Gurdjieff movements in Sydney. Together with her husband, Dorine organises yearly house concerts at her home in Sydney to promote young musicians.

JOHANNA PETSCHE

Johanna Petsche received her AMus in clarinet in 2003 and completed her Bachelor of Music/Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney in 2008, majoring in performance on clarinet, as well as philosophy and studies in religion. She is currently completing her Ph.D. at the University of Sydney on the piano music of Armenian-Greek mystic, G. I. Gurdjieff, and tutoring classes in studies in religion. She enjoys playing classical, romantic, and contemporary music, particularly music by Schubert, Weber, Poulenc, and Lutoslawski. The trio of Johanna Petsche, soprano Donna Cain and pianist/harpsichordist Dorine Tolley is a new venture. This recital for Glebe Music Festival is their second public performance, and they recently recorded their first CD.
