Nan
Heo began playing the piano when she was three and moved onto the violin
at seven. Nan has been studying with Prof. Peter Zhang at the Sydney Conservatorium
of Music and has performed internationally as a guest soloist with the
Guangxi Arts College Orchestra under the conductor Benjamin Loeb in 2006
and with the Hunan Province Symphony Orchestra in 2007 conducted by Xiao
Ming. In 2008, her international performances included cities such as
Guangzhou and Changsha in China.
In Australia, she was selected to tour N.S.W. with David Miller AM as
a member of the Great Southern Tour of Sydney Conservatorium of Music
in 2007. In the same year, she was also chosen to represent the Sydney
Conservatorium of Music by performing with a guest pianist from Germany,
Laurens Patzlaff.
In 2008, she received the prestigious Woman of the Year Award from the
Sydney Korean Women's Association. She was granted the Rueben F. Scarf
Memorial Foundation Award for Commitment and she received a scholarship
from CHAOS (Conservatorium High Association of Old Students) to attend
the Australian Chamber Music Festival in Queensland, where she received
master classes from James Buswell of New England Conservatory. She was
supported by Austral-Korean Cultural Foundation in 2006 and she performed
as a guest soloist for classical music category at the Korean Idol. She
was chosen to perform solo at the Sydney Opera House for the 2005 Encore
Concert and has received several outstanding awards at the McDonald's
Performing Arts Challenge.
She participated in numerous master classes and performed with many professional
musicians such as Dr. Walter Verdehr, Prof. Goetz Richter and Richard
Tognetti. She is a member of the Golden Key Foundation, an organisation
which is recognised world-widely for its elite members and she often represents
the Sydney Korean Committee at many formal occasions as a guest soloist.
