Ronald Woodcock will be giving a performance in the "documentary style"
presentation on the great 19th Century Belgian violinist Eugene Ysaye.

Ronald Woodcock will perform the complete Six Solo Sonatas Op. 27 in two one-and-a-quarter hour recitals (the first three at 5-00pm and the second three at 7-30pm). Each sonata was dedicated to a famoous violinist and friend of Ysaye's - Kreisler, Szigeti, Thibaud, Enesco, Quiroga and Crickboom - and reflects his admiration, and affection, for each musician. Ronald will intersperse each sonata with a short talk about Ysaye's life as a virtuoso violinist, composer, teacher and conductor.

Ysaye was a larger-than-life character who lived through an extraordinary time for musicians and composers, and was one of the greatest violinists and musicians of all time. From an impoverished home in the coal and industrial town of Liege in Belgium, he rose to enjoy the immense prestige and plaudits of the great European musical centres, the praise and dedication of famous composers of the time, and the patronage of one of his violin pupils, Queen Elisabeth of the Belgians.

Ronald Woodcock has toured in over 90 countries during a distinguished career as concerto and recital soloist, chamber player, teacher and orchestral conductor. he has performed in world musical centres such as London, Vienna, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Tel Aviv and Buenos Aires as well as in remote countries such as Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Peru and the Solomon Islands.
